The Kitchen was renovated and completely refitted as part of the 2013 phase of improvements.
The kitchen is now equiped to a state of the art professional catering standard with a large sink, fridge, multi-burner cooker, warmimg cupboard, microwave, dishwasher, water boiler, hand sanitiser, generous areas of stainless preparation surfaces and a worktop area opening onto the serving area.
The serving area is a separate room connected to both the kitchen and the main hall and having outside doors with easy vehicle access, allowing materials and provisions to be transported to the kitchen or through the double doors to the main hall.
When outside caterers are employed for larger numbers of guests we ask that they provide cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. We can however provide some crockery and cutlery for private hirers and smaller numbers.
We don't charge any extra for the use of the kitchen area or basic appliances, kettle, tea urn, fridge, warming cupboard or dishwasher but we do make a charge for use of the cooker, crockery and cuttlery. Some storage cupboards are kept locked for safety reason because children use the hall so hirers must make sure they request kitchen use, if required, when booking the hall.
The kitchen was officially opened in March 2013 by Councillor David Beckett, Mayor of Newcastle, at a reception held for villagers, helpers, tradesmen and others who were active in organising and carrying out the improvements.
