Village Hall Playground Redevelopment Plans

Over the last three years or so, the village hall trustees have been developing plans to improve the playground facilities behind the village hall. We have really appreciated the help of all those people who have been involved in the consultation process, not least the very enthusiastic members of Class 6 at Betley School!

During 2018 we completed the refinement of the plans and prepared detailed costings which enabled us to submit, to the Weston Anniversary Fund, an application for a major grant award. Although the Fund was oversubscribed 40 times, we were pleased to learn in August that our application had been shortlisted. In early October we received the fabulous news that, in the face of very fierce competition, our grant application had been approved - IN FULL (!). This means that, with the pledge of support already received from Betley Bonfire Charity Awards, we now have full funding for the project and can go ahead!

The trustees are currently working on an implementation scheme and hope that the new playground facilities will be completed by early Summer 2019. Further updates will be provided as we progress. We hope you agree that this is a really exciting development for the children in our village for mums and dads and older generations too! Watch this Space!!

The hall is available for hire by clubs and classes and also by individuals for private events such as wedding receptions, children's parties, keep fit, dances and sale events, these and more activities can be found in the hall at different times.

Outside there is a large car parking area, a fenced children's playground and picnic area, a full all weather floodlit tennis court and a bowling green. A defibrillator is available, accessible from outside, near the main doors.

All income from bookings goes to the running and maintainance of the hall, which is a registered charity, non profit making and run by community volunteers. We try and keep our booking fees and conditions to a minimum. We have no contract caterers or bar providers, allowing private party bookings freedom to make their own arrangements, the hall has both an alcohol licence and a music licence.
